There are many places around the world where you can live, but none are as beautiful and steeped in history and culture as living in Paris, France. In Paris, you will find numerous historical landmarks, museums, galleries, and much more.
Deux-Sevres, Poitou-Charentes, France
Deux-Sevres is probably the quietest and least well-known of the departments in the Poitou-Charentes region in western France. It still has plenty to offer visitors, particularly those who enjoy exploring the natural environment and trying outdoor sports. Those who prefer historical attractions will enjoy visiting the main town of Niort and villages like Parthenay.
The main area for exploring the natural beauty of Deux-Sevres is the Marais Poitevin. Marais means marsh, but the area is much more picturesque than the name suggests and is also known as the Green Venice. You can take yourself around the network of small rivers, streams and lakes can on a special flat-bottomed boat, something like a punt, or there are organised tours if you prefer to lie back and enjoy the view. As well as a network of waterways, there are also miles of paths in this region, which are open to walkers, bikers and equestrians. Younger children don’t need to miss out, as they can enjoy the ride in a horse and carriage. The best view of the Marais Poitevin is from above, and many local companies offer balloon rides above the area. These aren’t cheap, but the photo opportunities are marvellous and it is an experience you will never forget.
Elsewhere in Deux-Sevres, children old and young can try go karting or clamber through the tree tops at an adventure park in the Chantemerle Forest. More relaxing pursuits, such as fishing and golf, are also available.
